Now since the Pirates (Jim Trdinich, Patty Paytas) have banned me from officially covering the team, stating they do not care about fans from Armstrong County they have had the worst record in NL. Consequently they have won all 10 games I’ve been in attendance since then. I don’t believe in curses, but one would think acting like a bunch of arrogant jerks to Christian based family outlet, can’t be good for karma.
However if there ever was a team that could break through, it might be this group.

Ronny Paulino is right now the 2nd best player on the team, and might be the best catcher in the NL by the end of the year. Credit RSW guest Mike Miller for calling this 2 years ago. Anyway with Paulino the Pirates have a great defensive catcher along with a solid and great improving hitter, .500 avg, and team leading 15 RBI’s in spring training.
The question will of course be the pitching, if they can pitch to their pontenial the Pirates could battle for 85 wins and a wildcard spot, however this team isn’t cracking .500 or for that matter 70 wins without a stellar starting rotation and bullpen.
The five key players.
1. Zake Duke – 12 wins is a must.
2. Chris Duffy – Were he is in June will tell the tell of the line-up
3. Ian Snell – Will he improve or go Oliver Perez
4. Tom Gorzelanny – Has the velocity to win 10 games.
5. Adam LaRoche – Biggest new comer in years…anything short of 30 HR’s in PNC park will be a disaster.
Sign the Pirates could be better:
1. Jack Wilson .366 this spring
2. Pitching has the potential to improve.
3. Jason Bay & Adam LaRoche is a pretty good righty – lefty.
Will Duffy steal 50 bases, Duke win 15 games, LaRoche take advantage of being in a hitter’s park…..the season starts today.
