Murrysville resident and former Oakland A's managers Ken Macha should be on top of the list to become the next Pirate manager. Another top candidate is Phil Garner who has managed for three teams, and is very familiar with the NL Central after spending 4 years in Houston.
The Pirates fired Jim Tracy after a 68-94 season and a career record of 133-189 with Pittsburgh. Tracy was the only Pittsburgh manager ever to appear on RSW, but I still agree with the decision to move on. This was obviously the wrong type of team for Tracy. The Pirates hired Neal Huntington as GM and Frank Coonelly as team president, two moves I'm not so sure about. They also recently fired many other front office personal, but why stop there, keep the house-cleaning going. Jim Trindich should be next. We'll see who the new Pirate bosses hire, but regardless the team facing a difficult task of avoiding a pro sports record of 16th straight years under .500.
