Tennis models stars meet in dream Aussie Open semifinals. Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic, and Daniela Hantuchova will battle it out to see who is the hottest best player in the year's 1st major. A major win for Ana or Jelena might earn them the title of world's most popular female athlete.

Jelena Jankovic

At 22 she has never made it to a major final, but this is the year to reach the next level. The popular Serb, nicknamed JJ, might have the best footwork on tour, this makes her a threat on any surface. Extremely fit, she needs to be on top of her defensive game like in the match against Serena to beat Sharapova. She told her mix double partner in Wimbledon, she would give him kisses if he played well. She seems to always be smiling on the court. She also had a spring break moment during the tournament.

Maria Sharapova

World Ranking - #5

She is the only one of the group to win a major, she has 2 of them. Everyone knows her and her dog from the tv commercials, as you know she is one of the recognized and heavily endorsed athletes in the world. After reaching the final here last year, MariaShar struggled in the later half of 08. She is making a huge statement this year with her play so far, including a big win over #1 Justine Henin. A win here would reinforce her already strong brand. She also designs her own tennis outfits. No word on who designed her dad, Yuri's camo outfit.

Ana Ivanovic

World Rank - #3

Ana is probably the most likable and approachable lady on the tour. People who meet her, really like her. She comes off very sweet with a great personality. The well told Ivanovic story is about her practicing tennis in an old Serbian swimming pool. Everyone has been waiting for her to breakthrough and win her first major. Her website claims it is the most visited for any female athlete in the world. She could move ahead of Sharapova as sports most recognizable women with a win. Most people don't realize she is 6'1. She always is doing that Tiger Wood fist pump thing after big points. Get this, her coach, can't coach her in matches against opponents sponsored by Adidas too.

Daniela Hantuchova

World Ranking - # 9

Before Maria Sharapova emerge on the scene, Hantuchova was supposed to be what Sharapova evolved into. People thought she was more concerned with modeling than tennis at one point in her career. She had some other off court issues and never has been able to fulfill her potential. Right now she is seemly playing the best tennis of her life.

This final four is a marketers dream. I gave 3 of these women great karma in an article earlier in the week. If Sharapova meets Ivanovic in the final it will be billed as the battle to be the "it" girl of sports, the ultimate blonde vs. brunette match-up. If Hantuchova wins, it will be the great underdog story of a girl who struggled but finally made it to the top, after everyone has wrote her off. If Jankovic mean Ivanovic, it will be the two Serbians, and one will get their first major. We're not in London or New York, but it's still a great weekend for tennis.
