There will be major changes to the Pennsylvania Scholastic Athletic Conference this coming season as Gannon & Mercyhurst Universities joining from the GLAIC.
The big change, were it pertains to local high school athletes, is the number of scholarships, going to local colleges. IUP, Clairon, etc, will be increasing the amount of athlete scholarships they can offer by up to 50% in all sports.
From a fans standpoint, Gannon or Mercyhurst shouldn't challenge for a football title anytime soon, but they will be perennial favorites in basketball. On the soccer field Gannon & Mercyhurst should contenders each year, but we'll just have to see how it goes.
